Practice Owner & Speech Language Pathologist

(she/her)

I bring deep dedication to supporting communication growth through playfulness, curiosity, and connection. Using a relationship-centered and neurodiversity-affirming approach, I build communication skills by expanding upon what already brings a child joy. My unique approach combines direct services with caregiver coaching, thus supporting families in feeling confident with the knowledge and tools they need to embed communication strategies into their daily routines.

Outside of work, I can be seen belting showtunes, going for meandering walks with friends, and trying new recipes.

Clinical Background

Before starting Creative Connections, I developed my clinical skills in settings including private practice, private school, and home-based services. I began my career in a sensory integration clinic, where I was trained to integrate sensory-based approaches into speech and language therapy sessions to build communication skills while supporting sensory regulation.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Biology from Brandeis University and went on to complete my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Boston University. I hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and am licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Certifications & Areas of Training

I'm passionate about expanding my knowledge both within specific areas of speech and language, but also at the intersection of communication, sensory processing, and trauma/attachment. I have completed training in areas including:

Here's what families are saying:

"Mara is AMAZING! We have been in speech therapy since my little guy turned 1 (he's now 4) and the progress was slow and inconsistent. Enter Mara :) My little guy went from a handful of words to an explosion of new words and 2 and 3 word phrases!  The smile on his face when a new word just pops out is priceless! Mara is compassionate, intuitive and playful! She taught us easy to implement play strategies that made all the difference. She gave us the gift of communication and confidence. We are forever grateful!"

"You got us at our most vulnerable - right at the beginning of his diagnosis and when it all seemed too overwhelming to ever truly manage. Your support and kindness truly meant the world to ALL of us. And we learned SO MUCH from you as to how to best support him – I still 'hear' you when I am working with him in school or just hanging out with him – something that I truly believe has made me a better mom to him."

"Mara tailors her sessions to the needs of each individual child - incorporating movement, play, sensory systems, and topics of interest to keep our son engaged. He loves to practice his new skills at home and truly refers to his teacher as 'fun Mara.' We are grateful to have found an SLP who very clearly loves kids and has a true passion for her profession."
